I love to cook and bake and I love to plan new recipes. I mean, who doesn't have a pinterest board chock full of recipes they've never tried?! Anyway, this is post number two in the series. If you missed post number one, it was on meal planning. You can read it here.

This post is about making a list and STICKING to it. The most obvious reason to make a grocery list is to keep you from making impulse buys and buying ingredients or products that are not on your list. I have a problem with this. Food is yummy, and if something looks good, it is almost always going in my shopping cart. This is even more of a problem if you shop with kiddos in tow or even your husband or significant other. I can never make it out of the grocery store without spending at least a few extra dollars on "extras" that we had to have. And, let's face it, most of the time, those extras are not healthy choices. :(

In my first post, I talked about an amazing meal planning site that allows you to save recipes, create a meal planning calendar by dragging and dropping recipes into it, and automatically creating a grocery list. There are a few flaws with the system. For example, if a recipe says "salt and pepper" and another recipes says "1/2 tsp of salt", it will not combine these together. Which, kinda makes sense because you have no idea what amount the one needs. So, for me, this is the most tedious part of getting my list ready, and in reality, this only takes about 5-10 minutes of my time. After creating the grocery list, I simply go through and combine ingredients or remove ingredients that I don't need to buy. Then, I hit print, and I'm ready to go! They now also have an app that allows you to use your phone as your list, instead of printing it. It is a great tool, but I'm a little old-fashioned and really like paper in hand with a pen to cross of items. I suppose one day I'll get there because I do love tech, but there is just something about a pen and paper for me. (Have you seen my bullet journal?)

But, what if you don't use a nifty online meal planning tool? The first tip I can give you is to organize your list by type of ingredient or by area of the store. Before I started using Plan to Eat, I would hand write my grocery list. I would start with a plain white sheet of paper, and fold it in half like a book. On one side, I would write out the meals for the week. On the other side, I would create my list, organized by area of the store. This kept me from forgetting items and wandering around the store like a mad woman. The key to grocery list making is to simply find a system that works for you and keeps you on track and not wandering around the store. The more organized you are when you get there, the more likely you are to avoid making impulse purchases. Focus on the list.

And lastly, I can offer one more key piece of advice when it comes to using a list and doing your shopping. GROCERY PICKUP. I know for a lot of people, there are few options available for ordering online and actually picking up your groceries, but it can be a huge time saver and it keeps you from making impulse buys. For me, I do a majority of my shopping at Aldi and I stick to the list. Since the store is so much smaller, I don't find myself wandering or looking for ingredients because I generally know what the store carries and where it will be located. Then, for whatever ingredients I am unable to purchase at Aldi, I order through Walmart's Grocery Pickup. Sometimes I use my phone or iPad to do this while laying in the bed, but other times I sit down at my computer. It just depends on how I'm feeling. But, the best part is, when it is time to pick them up, I simply drive to the store, go to the pick up area, and within minutes my entire grocery order is loaded into my car and I'm on my way home.
This is a series of posts that I hope will help everyone learn to cut back without having to coupon.

The very first thing that comes to mind for saving money on the grocery bill is to meal plan. Seems so simple, but yet, so many of us just wing it (there are times I'm still guilty of this!). Which means multiple trips to the grocery store each week. This usually leads to a lot of impulse buying, which means you're going over your budget. Or worse, you just skip cooking at all and just eat out.

Some people like to paper plan, and if you follow me regularly, you will see that I love to bullet journal. However, I like meal planning to be quick and easy. So, instead of paper planning, I started using a program called "Plan to Eat" back in 2014. Simply put, Plan to Eat is a meal planning site. There are a lot of benefits to using Plan to Eat, but I'm not going to go into a huge amount of detail. Here are the key things that I like about it:

Only costs 3.99 a month or $39.00 a year. Also, on Black Friday, the yearly cost is only $19.50 (which is what I do). This means I pay about $1.63 a month for this service.

They offer a 30 day free trial. It requires no credit card to sign up. You either keep using it or you don't. It's up to you.

You can save recipes to your online cookbook in multiple ways. There is a tool called a "recipe clipper" that allows you to be on a page with a recipe and directly import it (my favorite). You can also import from a URL or you can just type the recipe in yourself by hand.

You can "friend" others to share recipes. My username is LisaLangley.

They have started doing monthly "themed" recipes with giveaways and a Facebook group to share ideas. One month was a Make Ahead Meal Plan Challenge where we focused on making meals that could be frozen for later. Another was a grilling challenge and currently, they are doing one for the Instant Pot. I'm not always thrilled with the recipes because some use obscure ingredients that are very expensive, but I usually try most of them and it's fun to try new recipes.

Once you have some recipes saved, you can literally just drag and drop them in calendar format using the "Plan" section. It will take me about 5 minutes to plan two weeks worth of meals.

After you have used the "Plan" section, you move onto the "Shop" section where you specify the dates you want to shop for, and your grocery list is formed from the recipes that you planned.

It has always been mobile friendly through your browser, but they are rolling out an app that is pretty cool (I've had the pleasure of testing it!)

You can see below a sample of what my menu looks like this week.

There is a lot more to the site with many other cool options, but this
is the general idea. The site has many video tutorials that are short
and fun to watch to help you get started.

So, I challenge you to start
meal planning this week. You
don't have to use the same site I do. Before I used this site, I would often just a sticky note and hand write my grocery list. And it is important to remember that meal planning is not about some elaborate meal that takes hours in the kitchen. It is okay if you simply put "frozen pizza and salad" or even "Eat Out". As you can see above, both of those things are on my menu this week because I know we are going to eat out Friday and I'm not sure what our plans are Saturday, so I don't want to plan something that needs to be cooked. Be real with yourself and don't give yourself goals that are not going to get accomplished because you had a long day at work.

I started it in February of 2011, almost 6.5 years ago. This was shortly after my hubs had been diagnosed with ESRD and had started dialysis. I also went back to college at that time in my life, so my family was struggling to make ends meet. Today, that has not changed much, but my reason for having a blog has. This fall, I will start my student teaching to finally finish my long college journey (you can read about this here). Over the years, I have stopped couponing in any real capacity. I simply have found that I literally do not have the time for it. I'm a mom to three kids, wife to a husband who has now had a kidney transplant, soccer team manager, college student, substitute teacher, and so much more. Instead, this blog is being updated to still be about saving money, but it will no longer be based on coupons. I have a lot of ideas floating around right now for some new blog posts, so I hope you stick around!

Green Moleskine for this year with my new Inkjoy pens!

Last year I came across something called a "Bullet Journal" and my planning, organizing, to do lists, and life was changed...

Forever!

Okay, that might have been a little dramatic, but the point is, I rarely forget things now, and I just overall feel more on top of things like housework, my exercise, bills, kids' schedules, my schedule, and my coursework. This has been the best system for me, and the part I like the most- it's completely what YOU want out of it. You make it, you customize it, you change it- it's ALL about YOU.

If you would like to read the original post and the updated one halfway through the year, they are here and here.

So, this year I have started a new one, for a new year. I've made a few changes from the past two, and so far, I'm loving it! Instead of breaking it down into sections (to do lists, school planner, exercise planner) I've kept everything together. It seems to flow easier for me, and I don't have to be worried about not having left enough pages in one of the sections. Also, I was sent some pens from Smiley360 and Papermate Inkjoy to test and give my opinions on, so I thought this would be perfect for that! Matter of fact, I'm loving these pens so much, that I've started using them more often than the others I originally bought for this.

As mentioned above, I already was a fan of the InkJoy pens before, however I had not really tried the 300RT pens. I guess I had assumed that the larger number meant "better", and I already had the 550RT series pens. But, when I started using the 300 RT series pens that I was sent, I remembered expressively *why* I love Paper Mate's InkJoy series. They write very smooth, have vibrant colors, and are easy on the hand. I know that sounds crazy, but sometimes, your hand is just not comfortable with a pen and it actually starts to hurt while you are writing with it. That doesn't happen with these pens! And as you can see above, the color is a great addition to my bullet journal and makes it more fun to look at and pretty to write in. I can't tell you how many compliments I get every time I pull this thing out!

About a month ago, my husband had to be transferred by ambulance to a hospital two hours away. It was unexpected, and I had only grabbed a few things from the house when we left for the local hospital's ER. He is immunosuppressed related to a recent kidney transplant, and he had contracted a lovely cold. The cold that would've made you and me sneeze, cough, and maybe take some OTC meds, put him in the ICU for two days because he went septic less than 12 hours after showing symptoms. The whole experience lasted about 7 days and was extremely unpleasant, to say the least. We were stuck away from the kids with very little essentials, no vehicle, and in a stressful situation.

But, all is good now! :)

On to the point- "very little essentials". Y'all. Seriously. Not having clean underwear is probably one of the worst things....ever.

Ever!

And having no deodorant.

Being in a situation like that was so stressful by itself, and not having those simple two things that we all take for granted just added to the nightmare of it all.

So, when I got home, there was a little package in my mailbox. And inside was deodorant. It made me smile the kind of smile that lights up your whole face. It was such a good smile. It makes me smile to think about that smile!

I belong to a sampling site called Influenster and I get to try new products and review them. So, in my mailbox was one of the new Unilever Dry Spray deodorants. Specifically, I received the Degree MotionSense DrySpray in Fresh Energy scent. After using the junk at the hospital for a week, I was thrilled to try something new under my arms.

Now, it's important to note that it is an antiperspirant. If you don't already know the difference between and antiperspirant and a deodorant, I'll tell you. The hospital had deodorant. All deodorant does is provide a nice refreshing scent for those pits. And that scent doesn't cover stress-related sweating stinky-ness when you are staying two hours away in the hospital with your husband having all kinds of craziness going on. Deodorant is for people that really just need perfume. Deodorant doesn't work.

TRUST ME.

Antiperspirant on the other hand, is just that- it is made to help stop you from sweating. So, always pick the antiperspirant, if you sweat. I really don't even know why they make deodorant that is only deodorant because it doesn't work.

Now, on to my review.

Using this product was different. I have never used a spray deodorant before, so the first thing I did was read the directions on how to apply on the back of the bottle. You need to shake well before every use.

Hmm.

How well is well? A minute, 10 seconds, 20 seconds...? Cause my arm got tired after like 30 seconds. So, I go with about 6 good shakes and it seems to work.

Next, you are to hold about 6 inches from the skin and spray on to the underarm. That was easy enough. It is a cold feeling, so make sure you are ready for it. It's not too unpleasant, but being that it is kinda chilly right now outside, it is a little startling first thing in the morning.

As for how it works, I haven't had any complaints. It works, and that's the most important thing. It has a nice, clean, refreshing scent. However, you do need to make sure when you are spraying it to hold your face away from the general area because it will make you feel like you are choking if you accidentally breathe it in. Again, please just trust me. Don't breathe it in. You will feel like your throat is on fire and you are suffocating.

The back of the bottle claims it will last up to 8 weeks. I'm thinking that's a pretty accurate measurement if you apply once a day, which is how I use it. It says it is a 48 hour anti-perspirant, but I have not found it to continue to last past the 24 hour marker. Or maybe I'm just stinky or something. Whatever.

I plan to keep buying the stuff. I like the fact that it doesn't get on my clothes, and it doesn't leave a buildup feeling under my arms. Plus, I don't know whether I've gotten old (GASP) or whether my skin is just getting more sensitive, but I have found that regular stick deodorant has been making my underarms break out a little. Which is weird. And I tried switching brands. Since using this, it has all cleared up. Which makes my underarms happy...

And happy underarms are the best! So, try some, and make your underarms happy! :)

My first course towards my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education is what is called GEN 200. Basically, it's a college skills course. Which I took in 2010 with MTC. So....it's quite boring. However, I know that I need to focus on getting used to the classroom setup and how UOP works. So, I'm trying to look at the information with fresh eyes and be open minded. One of the first things that we talked about in the course was goal setting and time management. I am still using my bullet journal from this post. However, I've discovered over the last week during this course, that I needed a few more "tabs" in my journal- an exercise journal (I call it Healthy Me) and a Student Planner to help keep my to do lists separate.

The original post was written back in April of this year, so needless to say, I've incorporated quite a few things. So, I'm going to give you a brief overview of the changes. If you want to see the meat of the journal and the idea that sparked it, go here. I hope this helps you, and I can't imagine using any other system to keep myself organized. The moleskin has stayed gorgeous even with toting it around in my purse everyday and using it everyday. I would literally be lost without it. I've found that since using this, I rarely forget to do anything and I seem to actually get things done. My house is running smoother, my life is less stressed, and I feel more in control. All important things! :)

One more quick thing- I had someone ask when I write my daily to do lists. I try to do it every night before I go to bed for the next day, because it gets everything out of my brain and helps me fall asleep. If I wait till the next morning, I tend to think about all the things I might forget and it keeps me from sleeping!

I used to have two tabs- one for the Current Month to go along with my calendar in the front, and one for my current lists, which I choose to put on my monthly to do list and use my bookmark string on the moleskin for my daily to do lists. What's the difference, you ask? Monthly to do list is things I want to accomplish during that month, but aren't necessarily priority. Things I don't want to forget are happening or need to be done. For instance, car taxes needing to get paid that month, or making an appointment to go over our life insurance. Daily to do lists are just that- simple things that need to get done that day. Things like, grocery shopping, mop the kitchen, emails that need to be sent, phone calls that need to be made...and so on. Now, the two I added- Healthy Me & Student Planner.

This will be what the pages look like from here out in the Healthy Me section. It gives me a place to be accountable for what I did that day- walked, swam, aerobics, etc. Also, I want to keep up with how much water I'm drinking, because drinking any water is a struggle for me. I'm trying to take in at least 4 bottles equaling about 68 ounces a day, but right now, I've found it hard to do half of that. So, keeping a journal of it, will help me understand where I'm at. Also, I am struggling with sleep. I always seem to be tired, so I'm worried that maybe I sleep too much (ha!) and maybe that is actually causing me to be tired. So, I'm trying to sleep only 7-9 hours a night and keep a schedule. Hopefully, this helps. And lastly- I have a goal for the week and a motivational quote.

And lastly, the tab for my Student Planner. This is really personal to just me, because most student's take more than one course at a time. At UOP, we take one course for 5 weeks. So, I only need to plan for one day at a time. But, this allows me to get more in detail with what needs to be done each day for the class without mixing it into my daily to do lists.

Failing hurts. It sucks the very life out of you and drains your soul and makes you want to stay in bed and never get up again. Especially when it is something you wanted. Something you were absorbed with.

And it's even worse when you took out loans for it.

I failed nursing school.

There. I said it. It's been almost 9 months now since I decided I couldn't do it. And it still gets to me. I am not someone that fails...I am not someone that gives up. I spent a good portion of 3 years to get a degree in nursing. And I truly wanted it. I almost finished it. And then, right there in the middle of clinicals....I discovered I couldn't do it. It wasn't the clinicals, or the patients, or the gross factor, or anything of the sort. I understood the concepts. I knew my medications. I knew my pathophysiology. I even could recite nursing diagnoses in my sleep. Well, maybe not sleep....because I didn't sleep in nursing school. I lived on caffeine. But, that's another story.

I could spend hours upon hours upon more hours studying, reading, making charts, reviewing, and reciting. Yet, I couldn't pass the tests. I gained weight. My face broke out. I was beyond stressed. I was never happy. I was always on edge. Sleep was not something that I could even find when I had time for it. I became such a disaster at exam time, that I literally would have horrible stomach pains and shook like a leaf. I started to not care anymore. I just wanted my life back. I wanted to be happy again. I wanted to be able to spend time with my family and not feel like I was doing something bad. So, I failed. I actually failed TWICE. I failed the one class, and tried again. And gave it even more of myself. And failed again. One could definitely say that after that second time I could have been diagnosed with Failure to Thrive. I became a recluse. I didn't want to talk to people. I didn't want to leave my bed. I didn't want to get dressed. It was pretty bad. And I'm still recovering- 9 months later.

So, I'm sure you are wondering right now, why the heck I say that it was good for me.

As someone that really had never really failed, I needed to realize what it was like. I needed to see that I had let something consume me in a way that was seriously unhealthy. I'm not saying nursing school is unhealthy (lol), but for me, it was. Failing made me reevaluate who I am and what I want out of life. I realized that while I loved doing my clinicals, and I would probably make a great nurse, I had always wanted something else...I wanted to teach. I realized that my Plan A, was not really my Plan afterall.

I'm now in school for my BS in Elementary Education. And I'm happy. :)

I've grown as a person from my experiences with nursing school. I've realized how lucky it is to be healthy, and to be proactive with that health. It's amazing how quickly something can happen inside of us. I've learned I have a strength inside of me that I didn't know existed. I pulled myself up and brushed myself off, and now, I'm a better person for that.

I now know things that the average person doesn't when it comes to health care. Which is beneficial for me and my family due to my husband's health condition. Heck, it's beneficial just going to the pediatrician's office. I know what it means when my kids' chart reads NKA or says they have rhinorrhea. (NKA- no known allergies & rhinorrhea simply means a runny nose!)

And I'm not afraid of failure anymore.

This means my family eats out way more often than we should. One major goal of mine this year is to end this cycle of spending money on and eating junk. So, while I wouldn't call this a "healthy" meal, it is better than eating a frozen pizza or eating a cheeseburger from McCrappy's. I'm going to try to post a new "quick" weeknight meal that my family loves at least once every two weeks or so. So, here is the first installment-

Easy Weeknight Chicken Quesadillas

This is a really simple idea that can be expanded upon or just made as is. Even picky eaters will love!
3 cans of chunk chicken (12.5 oz each), drained
1 can of green chiles (7 oz each)
1/4 cup of taco sauce, or more/less to your taste
black pepper, onion powder, and chili powder to taste
Mix chicken, chiles, sauce, and seasonings together in a bowl. Preheat a
skillet on med-high heat. Add a small pat of butter. Place a tortilla
shell flat in skillet. Add chicken mix and sprinkle cheese on top. Place
another tortilla shell on top. Cook until browned. Flip and repeat on
other side. You can even make a simple cheese quesadilla for your picky eaters! Repeat. Serve warm with dipping sauces. Cut with pizza cutter. Makes 8 quesadillas- enough for my family of 5.

I have found this to take about 5 minutes to prep, if you make this according to my recipe, and another 10-15 to cook. Next time I make it, I'm going to prep the chicken mix and place in the fridge till we get home to save even more time. I really want to try sauteing some peppers and onions and using some grilled chicken breasts chopped, but the point of this meal was to be quick and easy, so maybe another time!

My Bullet Journal

The other day, I was browsing Facebook and Pinterest (when I should have been doing calculus homework), and I came across someone that was absolutely gushing over something called "Bullet Journaling". Well, being as that I was bored, I couldn't help but check it out. And I feel in love. So, now I'm going to show you mine, why it works, and why I love it.

First, I googled "Bullet Journal". And I found the official site here. There's an awesome video and lots of good ideas to get started. But, right from the start, I saw so much more here. He's a simple guy- obviously isn't in school, doesn't have 3 kids, 4 soccer teams, and a mess of craziness going on in his life. This is what I have been looking for in an app and in my LIFE.

I'm a list maker. I'm a sticky note taker. I'm a to-do lister. I have a dollar store calendar in my purse, a calendar on my phone, and a million slips of colored sticky notes everywhere. For years, I've wanted something that could and would combine all of my lists, dates, and everything into one. I've come close to finding apps, but even though I love technology, sometimes, it's better to have it written down. Plus, I love handwritten stuff. I love the idea of checking something off. I love the idea of a "journal". This could be all of THAT.

So, the next thing I did was pull out a cheap composition book. You know the kind that you get for your kids for school that costs like 25 cents in August. I figured, I would start in it and figure out all the quirks and changes I wanted before buying a Moleskine. So, I used it for about 5 days and did just that.

I found that while his original bullet journaling system worked quite well, it was lacking in what I would like to call future planning. Basically, it needed a calendar. So, that's the cool thing here- this is completly customizable to YOU. You decide what works for you and what doesn't. I've been using my Moleskine now for about two weeks and I'm extremely impressed with how productive this makes me. I don't forget things. I'm more on task. I'm just overall more organized. And with my crazy life, this is important.

So, here is a few pics of how mine works and is put together. I went in order of my book, so you can see how it progresses and flows together.
Just putting it out there. Well, actually it might not be laziness as much as I simply don't have time to be the Martha Stewart bake everything from scratch type of mom. So, today I was craving something sweet, but I should have been studying for a nursing exam and trying to get over this lovely virus I picked up this weekend. The result- a boxed cake doctored up.
What you'll need:
Boxed white cake mix
Packet of lemonade Crystal Light (2qt)
Duncan Hines frosting creations starter and strawberry shortcake flavor mix
1 cup of sliced strawberries
few tablespoons of sugar

What you'll do:
Make cake as directed but stir in the lemonade into the batter. Bake as directed in two 8-inch cake pans. Meanwhile, mash strawberries with sugar. Let sit while cake is baking. Mix frosting with flavor add in. After cakes are baked and cooked, put strawberry fruit mix between layers and frost cake normally. Enjoy!
Pinterest is the devil. Seriously. You get on with the intention of just browsing or possibly pinning something you found interesting and the next thing you know, you've pinned 300 new pins and it's 3 hours later. And you have no idea what just happened. It's worse than alcohol. There is a dark spot where Pinterest took over! Now, with all that being said, I love Pinterest! Hehehe! So, since I only have 8 more days till the semester from hell starts back (Nursing 265/263- my third clinical semester), I thought, hmmmm....what if I get some things actually done around here that I've been pinning about for the last few months...ahem. Okay, years. :D

So, I'm sure by now you are saying, GET ON WITH IT ALREADY. So here it is, the simple tutorial about making your own magnetic board.

Materials:
Sheet Metal 12x18 inches (Lowe's $4.77)
Fabric (Hobby Lobby with coupon $5.39)
Magnet 0.5x25" Roll (Michaels with coupon $3.59)
Mirror Corner Brackets (Walmart $1.47)
Salt & Pepper Clear Shakers (Walmart $0.97 for a pack of two)
Hot Glue Gun & Sticks (on hand)

First, I cut the fabric to have a lip around the entire board. Then, I simply hot glued all the edges down tightly to the back side of the board. I've read of others Mod Podge'n the entire thing, but I'm all about the instant gratification and that means I was going to need for it to dry....Lol. Next, I attached magnet strips to all of my eye colors and blushes. And, then, I used the brackets to attach it to the wall. I also used the salt & pepper shakers without their caps to form small baskets to hold some of my brushes and such by attaching magnet strips to them.

All in all, it turned out pretty well. I have to say that the board is not quite as magnetic as some of my dry erase boards and it seems to be a slight problem, as it is very easy to knock into the colors and have them all fall down. I may decide to cover a dry erase board when I make one for my daughter instead of this sheet metal. Or, Home Depot has a "galvanized" one for a few dollars more that may work better. But, as of right now, it works and it does what I wanted it to. However, I can say that the more magnet you get on the lid, the better it sticks. For instance, I cut most of my eye colors to be 1" strips, but a few of them I cut to be 1 1/4" strips. Amazing how that extra quarter makes them stick so much better! So, all in all I'm happy so, I say SUCCESS!

As for the cost of this- the yard of fabric would make at least 6 of these. The magnet strips would probably fill up about 6 of these as well. The corner brackets would attach two to the wall. And I used one and half packs of the salt and pepper shakers. So, the total for this altogether broken down, is $8.47!

UPDATE: After using this for a few days, those strip magnets were absolutely not working on the sheet metal. I talked to hubby about it and he said my problem was not the metal, it was the strength of the magnets (oh! LOL). So, being in a hurry and not having any craft stores in my area to make a quick run to, I ran into Walmart and grabbed some round magnets in the craft section. They were about 6.00 for a pack of 52. That's a little high in my opinion, but I'm thinking you could probably find these at the craft stores that offer coupons and get them much cheaper! Anyway. I also took a picture of them with the salt and pepper shakers that I used as the clear containers to hold my brushes and eye liner pencils. I also included the mirror brackets so you could see what they looked like. :) Hope this helps!
As a fairly new smartphone user, I'm not always the first one to have the newest app nor do I understand everything that my phone will do now. But, the one thing that I've been really excited about as of late is finding apps that give back. Some earn you points that you can redeem for other things and gift cards, but others will deposit right into your Paypal account! There are quite a few to be honest, but I have recently only tried about 5 out myself. I like these five because they seem very simple to use and don't seem to be time killers! And if you find this helpful at all, could you please use my links to sign up? I would love some referral credits! :) Here they are:

Endorse

This is an app that works for both Android and Apple users. This is actually my favorite one and I've used it the most. I currently have over $22 that I have earned right now. The best part- I only bought things I was going to buy anyway! Here's how it works: Download the app. Sign in using Facebook. Every Thursday new deals pop up. You will get offers like 10% back on any gas purchase, 10% back on any fast food purchase, 50% back on diapers, 100% on coffee, and so on. You make a purchase during the week that qualifies for this and click the offer. It will say Upload Receipt at the bottom. Take a picture of the receipt using the app and within a few hours to a day you will have the percentage back in your account, ready to be redeemed at any time. A few things to note- everyone gets different offers. Some weeks I have free coffee and my husband will get the fast food. As long as you are NOT double scanning your receipts, Endorse says it is fine to have multiple accounts in the same household. Double scanning means both of you using the same receipt for the same offer. Another thing to note is that you can request a check, but you must meet a certain minimum before requesting the money back. I prefer PayPal because it is instantly in your account within minutes and there is no minimum to earn first. Last thing to note is that the Endorse facebook page actually will sometimes have offers that you can "claim" and use. Sometimes these offers will also go to your email. Be sure to claim them and they will be under "Shared With You" instead of "This Week's Offers". Another thing to note is that if you use coupons, you will notice that the amount you get back will be reduced. This doesn't really bother me, because most of the time I was buying the item regardless, so anything back is just extra icing to the cake. And lastly, some offers require you to "upgrade" them by sharing them to Facebook. This may seem annoying to some, but I don't mind. I like saving money! Plus- every referral you get gives you a dollar as well!
This is another grocery store type app similar to Endorse. Right now it is only for Apple users. ***UPDATE*** This is now available to ANDROID users too! :) This app is slightly more complex in that it only works with certain retailers and you have to be careful to buy EXACTLY what the app is requesting. For example, my first purchase was for a 24 pack of Coke Zero. I didn't realize that the app only wanted the fridge packs until after I got home. *sigh* Anyway. I haven't used this one a lot because of the particulars, but the idea is basically the same. Buy items. Sign into the app. Complete little tasks that are assigned like watching videos, quick one question surveys, and posting to Facebook. Scan your receipt using the app. Scan the item's barcode. And then, you will get the $$ back in your account that you can choose to redeem at any time by sending it to your PayPal account. The offers seem to change randomly- but I did notice that you can click an offer and then click the picture of the item and give it a thumbs up or down. If you thumbs down something, it will come off your offers a little while later and be replaced with something else. I find that useful because there was dog food on there the first time I went to use it. I don't own a dog. That is not something that I will ever use. So, that's a plus that I can tell them not to give me offers that pertain to dogs, lol. This is also an app that pays you for referrals so, make sure to share your link! And another plus to this app is that I haven't noticed that combining it with coupons makes a difference! Yay!
This is actually a very new to me app. It works with both Android and Apple users. I'm not entirely confident in this app, but the premise seems cool. Basically, you earn points for "checking in" while watching tv shows. The points can be used for things like CVS eGiftCard that can be used in-store. Or a Kindle Fire. Or a Best Buy gift card. You get the idea. So, basically, just for watching your regular tv shows, you can earn things. *shrugs* Seems easy enough. To be honest about it, I haven't had a chance to watch much tv because it is finals week right now for me and that obviously has taken precedence over television watching, lol. Also, if you are a DirecTv user, supposedly it gives you better rewards or something. I am, but like I said, I haven't even had a good chance to see how it works yet. But, I wanted to include it here because it seemed easy enough to set up the account and it seems pretty easy to use.
I actually signed up for this over a year ago, before being a smartphone user. But, because it had so many smartphone qualities to it like "checking in", I quickly forgot about it and actually just remembered it last night. So, I'm writing this review about it with basic knowledge. But, again, I did not want to dis-include it because it seems like a good idea and easy to do. It also works with both Android and Apple users. From what I can tell, you watch videos and such to earn money back. At the end of the videos you will have a few questions to answer about your shopping habits and such. Then, you can also check in with some brands and earn money back that way too. The only thing that I was not over joyed about is that it does not connect with a PayPal account. You have to get a Jingit Visa Debit Card. Okay, I'm good with that. But, first you have to pay them an activation fee from your Jingit hard earned money to get it. Not so cool. It is only 3.00 right now, but that kinda turned me off a little. However, I believe you can do something with musicme.com as well, though I have not tried this out yet.
This is a points system app that you use will you shop as well. It works with both Android and Apple users. You can redeem it for things like a Target Gift Card, Starbucks Card, Best Buy Gift Card, iTunes Gift Card, Old Navy Gift Card, Coach Hand Bag, or Fandango Gift Card. I've actually had this one downloaded on my phone now for about a month and seriously forgot about it. I've never opened it or done anything with it. Soooo....after checking it out tonight for the first time, I'm pretty excited about it. It seems like all you have to do is visit the stores on the list (CVS, Target, Best Buy and TONS TONS TONS more!) and you will earn "Kicks" which can be redeemed for the things I mentioned above. And on top of that, you actually can link your purchases to it and earn more kicks PLUS you can get special deals at these stores from using the app as well! It's most definitely a WIN WIN situation.
So, if you read my blog, you will know that I somehow missed out on SheSpeaks program that would've included me in the beta of Cravebox. Which in turn, had me drooling at the mouth watching all the cool things Cravebox was getting out to their members. So, when Cravebox finally had some spots open up- I was ALL over it! lol :D I was finally included, and May was my first Cravebox experience.

Now, as excited as I am about sharing this box of F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C goodies, I think it would be helpful to share what exactly Cravebox is and does. Basically, every month, Cravebox puts together a box of goodies and offers it at a super low price of only $10 a month. It's a subscription service, but you can choose not to continue at any time. I personally have it set up so that I have to pay for it manually every month; I don't like things coming out of my bank account automatically, so this works best for me. You pay, it shows up on your door- and VIOLA! you have wonderful new products to test, try, taste, and brag about!

So, on to the box of goodies! First off, it was seriously like opening a present. It was all wrapped up and with bows and tissue paper and fun little paper crinkles! It included a lovely note letting me know that this month's theme (how cool is that? I love themes! LOL) was "A Taste of the Tropics". So, what was included, you ask? Check out the Smilebox for pics and then the detailed description of each item below:

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub in Coconut Lime- yummy scent when using, leaves skin so soft and smooth and feels wonderful as you rub it in circular motions in the bath. You can use it in the shower too, but I just love the way a bath makes you feel all pampered and relaxed. Leaves a light coconut lime scent that is slightly less strong than when using.

Skintersection Intense Repair Cream- thick moisturizer, consistency like body butter from other brands. Very light scent, to none at all. I wash my hands a lot, and right now I'm in clinicals for my nursing degree, so I am washing them even more, plus using a lot of harsh alcohol rubs and putting gloves on all day long. My hands are chapped, peeling, and generally rough because I have such sensitive skin. I used this, and within about a day, they were soft and replenished looking! I'm so excited to keep this one around. I only wish they had a smaller container or tube so that I could throw it in my pocket for all day use. Non-greasy feeling afterwards too!

Lipton Tea & Honey in Mango Pineapple- to go packet; I added this to a cup of iced water from my filtered water pitcher and I was impressed! I don't usually like a lot of flavored packets, so I wasn't expecting to care for this one much. And I don't usually care for mango flavored anything (just like the fruit!) but this has a really yummy honey flavor that is light and fruity. I could definitely see myself picking this up in the store; and thanks to the fifty cent coupon that was included with my sample, I'm sure I will! And even better- ONLY five cals per 8 oz serving! And one packet makes TWO servings- a 16.9 oz bottle! Better yet, my kids think this stuff tastes pretty awesome too, and it comes in pitcher sizes!

Sunsweet Plum Amazins Diced Dried Plums- I love dried fruit, but never tried dried plums before. These have just the right texture and all the taste of a real plum! I think these will be a great snack to throw in my pocket for clinicals and on the go! I may even try putting some in some greek yogurt- I just can't seem to keep a bag around long enough to try it before I eat it! LOL! And, the fifty-five cent coupon with recipes was a nice touch- I'm currently on the lookout for a sale to pair it up with!

Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates-I'm going to be honest here and tell you this was actually the disappointment in my Cravebox. I love chocolate and I have stashes of it hidden all over my bedroom and desk for when I have a craving hit. So, I was super excited to try out a new kind of chocolate I've never had before. But, when I opened the package, it had melted. :( I guess the hot weather of the south was not chocolate friendly to it. On the bright side, I was able to pop a piece of the chocolate out of the container and it still was super yummy. I wasn't able to distinguish between the chocolate and the truffle part though and that to me is one of the best parts of eating a truffle! I'm sure these would have been simply wonderful- a piece of heaven in my mouth- if they had not been all melted together. Instead, they were just another piece of yummy chocolate, which wasn't all bad!

So, my overall view of Cravebox- I can't wait for June's! New products at a great price, please count me in! Two things I would change though:
1. Don't send chocolate in the summer. (lol)
2. Send more coupons with the products that have them- let me share some of the goodness!
Okay...well, actually it has been here for months, but officially it is only just now the end of May. Mother Nature has decided to mix things up a little this year with some crazy weather- or at least it has been that way here in SC. I seriously don't think we ever had our winter! Boohoo! I love the cold weather, probably because the sun is not my friend. The sun is...well. Hot. LOL. My skin tends to burn very very very easily. And, then I get weird rashes from being in the heat, too. Anyway. You can see why I don't like summer very well. With all of that being said, I do have some things I like about summer. I just can't think of any right now......Just kidding! :D I love the pool, bbqs, shorts, summer dresses, and how a cold shower feels on sun kissed skin. I used to love the time that I got to spend with family and friends, but this summer is going to suck for that as I started Nursing 101 (clinicals) last week. I'm already living on sugar-free Red Bull, Starbucks Refreshers, Mio Energy, and 5 Hour Energy and I've only had class 3 times so far! My summer will be nonexistent except for my nursing school buddies. *sigh*

Okay, so on to the shorts! Crowdtap, as most of you know by now, is one of my favoritest Word-of-Mouth sites, and I was chosen once again for Old Navy's Style Council for me and a friend to sample some shorts and review them. It just so happened this sample & share program fell right in line with my birthday, so on top of getting to spend a great day with my best friend on my birthday, I actually got a ton of freebies and got to go shopping for real (not just for the free shorts, lol).

So, to start the day off, my bestie and I went to Chick-fil-A. We decided since we had the little ones with us- it would give us a chance to talk while the kids played for a bit. Plus, apparently, you get a free dessert for your birthday, so that was pretty cool. First, birthday freebie! Next, we hit up Old Navy to do the serious shopping. There was a lot of really neat summer displays and a lot of summer outfits that were on sale. I had a hard time deciding, but in the end, I came home with quite a few new summer outfits, and most importantly SHORTS! We will get back to those in a moment, but I got more birthday "freebies" here. A email came to me for my birthday for $10 off of 50, so that was really cool to get that discount on top of the one free pair of shorts from Crowdtap. So, next we hit up my favorite girly store- Victoria's Secret! For my birthday, they sent me a $10 off any purchase card, so I went in and got some new panties in their 5 for 25 deal. What was even sweeter- my bestie and I split the deal and the leftover amount due, so we got some almost free VS panties for my birthday- SCORE! Last, we hit up the Ulta Benefit Brow Bar, where I got my eyebrows waxed for free! Of course, I left a tip, but still- free eyebrow waxing is super awesome! All in all, we had an awesome day and to top it all off, we meet my family at Chili's for dinner and I got my last birthday freebie- a brownie sundae! Yum!

How old am I? 29.99 and holding! :D
Okay, so to get back to the shorts (again). After trying on a huge pile of clothes, I decided to go with the Women's Canvas Printed Shorts in Caspian Sea Blue. I went with a few different tank tops to match it up with, like, Women's Crochet-Yoke Tank Tops in Caspian Sea Blue and the Women's Rib-Knit Henley Tanks in Try Wizard Teal and in Purple Mania (I also bought it in Blue Stripe to match with other summer shorts). I also purchased the Women's Perfect Khaki Shorts in Black Jack and a black and white shirt with Audrey Hepburn on the front. I also updated my Old Navy Activewear with some shorts, tank tops, and matching sports bras. And, I'm hoping these new summer additions might inspire me to get back on my exercise regimen back in line *sigh*. But, I've worn both pairs of the summer shorts already and all of my new tops from Old Navy, and I can't wait to head back up there to continue to add more of these pieces to my summer wardrobe! I love the way both pairs fit. The printed pair is a really nice length for lounging and casual wear, and the black pair are really nice feeling and longer length. These are perfect for dressing up slightly or even just casual. Thanks Old Navy and Crowdtap- you helped make a birthday girl feel special!

This is one of those weeks that the grocery stores actually make me happy. I think by now, most of you know that my favorite shopping is always done at the drugstores. I think the grocery stores aggravate me because I see shoppers holding their coupons & shopping lists tightly while swiping shelves clean. You don't have to be a shelf-clearer to create a stockpile. Anyway- we won't get on that again! LOL
Due to my time limitations with school, I've missed going shopping on the first day of the grocery store sales for a while now, so being able to hit the stores early on the first day- WOW! Everything I wanted on my lists was still well-stocked and I had plenty of flavors to choose from. I was really excited about how well the grocery stores have turned out this week for me- how did you do? Post a comment with your totals below! :)
Lisa Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00059331688469523447noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5090607327829710764.post-5433243955624592362012-04-16T21:57:00.005-04:002012-04-16T21:57:58.403-04:00i *HEART* Q-pons!

As most of you know, my life is crazy insane busy. So, just finding time to go to the grocery store sometimes is ridiculous. Other than saving money, this is probably one of my biggest reasons on why I love coupons- Stockpiles. I no longer have a NEED to go to the grocery store. There is always something in our pantry, cabinet, fridge, or freezer that will provide a nutritious yummy and quick dinner for the family that not only *I* can make, but so can my husband!

I just recently started reading the Kindle edition of Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey and while I do like the book and strategies, I don't always agree with a lot of people on how they stockpile. This isn't the first time I've been through this- some couponers teach to stockpile for 6-8 weeks, others for 6 months, and others still for a year. I simply say- stockpile where you are not cleaning the shelves. I have a family of 5 and we have a grocery budget of less than $350 a month. Our toiletry/household needs budget- well, let's just say it needs to be as small as possible. Living solely on my husband's disability check leaves us with no other choices- we never stay out of the red at the end of the month. So, stockpiling can be limiting for us- but like a said, it's just nice knowing we have food to eat, soap and toilet paper to keep our butts clean, and the other necessities. We even occasionally get to splurge on a few things. I'm not one of those couponers that ONLY buys the sale items with coupons. *GASP* For instance, my husband likes John Derst bread and Snapple juice drinks. I very rarely buy them when they aren't on sale, but I don't think I've ever seen a John Derst bread coupon, and no one carries Snapple Apple & Snapple Fruit Punch in the 6-packs, so I buy them without coupons...*GASP* again. But, on a serious note, I think that's why I coupon- to have the luxury of knowing my family has food & necessities even if I don't go to the grocery store every week and so we can afford those few things that don't always have a coupon.

Okay, so I'm rambling on like usual. Here's the totals:

Kids should come with instruction manuals.

I think as a parent, almost every one of you can agree with that statement. Now, I want to say honestly that we don't have bad kids. For the most part, we don't get bad notes home from school, they all make good grades, and they all generally listen. But, here recently it seems our almost 12 year old daughter has gotten a little attitude about her that makes me want to rip my hair out and scream and stomp my feet. But, I'm the adult here...and that's not adult-like behavior. So I refrain. Most of the time (lol). My almost 8 year old daughter has NOT grown out of the whining stage yet and it is starting to influence my 5 year old son. And I absolutely can NOT deal with TWO kids whining. And don't get me started on the bedtime ritual. So, needless to say, combine this with me in college full time, my husband disabled on dialysis, 3 kids playing soccer (of which two teams that my husband coaches and I'm team mom), million other "life" things. and you get one crazy, frazzled parent. So, when my kids' elementary school sent out a notice about getting your kids to stop their bickering, start listening the first time, and a million other things, I was ALL over it!

It was scheduled over three Tuesdays over the past four weeks, and luckily this is not a dialysis day for my husband, so he was <strike>dragged by his hair</strike> more than happy to attend with me. ;) The information that was provide was absolutely gold! I can not even begin to tell you well it is working in our household and it makes parenting fun again. I don't have to feel like I'm the "bad guy" and I've learned that letting my kids make their mistakes is actually the best thing for them. The basis is to provide a heavy dose of empathy to match the consequence therefore, making the "bad guy" their own bad decision, not the parent punishing them! Genius! The program is called Love and Logic. It has helped me to realize that my angry yelling really wasn't affecting them. They really are just thinking I'm a crazy lunatic. And now I know how to handle the situation without the angry yelling and they are the ones learning from their own mistakes, essentially giving them back the chance to gain the values they deserve. Okay, so I'm still being very vague here, so here is a few better examples, but keep in mind that these do not even begin to touch on the vast quantity (or the quality) of information from this program!

Bedtime. In my house, that means I yell at them to "go to sleep" for at least 30 minutes. Note that I said "at least". *sigh* But! All is not lost! The Love & Logic bedtime ritual is different...Instead of me yelling at them to go to sleep, instead I tell them to get ready for bed, brush their teeth, etc. and then they are allowed to get in their beds and either read a book, play their DS, or do any other quiet activity. The compromise is that they are not to come out of their room and they must be quiet. I don't care when they go to sleep, but they must remember that they will be getting up the same time as always and they will not be taking naps. I do expect them to behave properly at school and their grades must stay at all A's & B's. I'm sure some of you are thinking, yeah right, but believe it! All THREE of my kids are asleep at least 30 minutes after we put them in the bed. Sometimes sooner- my son has barely been making it 15 minutes! Needless to say, I'm impressed if for no other reason than bedtime is no longer a stress for me.

Fighting & Bickering. This generally goes on either between my son and my middle daughter or my middle daughter and my oldest daughter. And this is one of those things that I absolutely can NOT handle. It drives me crazy insane batty. I become a mommy yelling lunatic, screaming at them to behave and stop fighting. Does it work? Never. They continue to fight and argue, and I continue to loose control. Who wins here? No one. They aren't learning how to handle themselves, and I'm certainly not portraying to them that I know how to handle myself. Instead, it comes down to removing the object and letting them know that you would appreciate if they could continue their argument somewhere that you won't be bothered by it because it is hurting your head. Again, I'm sure you are thinking, REALLY?! But, it works. Very well. And I'm not a crazy lunatic. Which is most definitely a good thing, lol.

Now that I've given you two examples of what has changed in our household, I'm sure you are wondering where you can get this information from. Well, to be honest, there is a hefty price tag on a lot of it. However, there are a lot of free resources available:
free articles
facebook page
youtube videos
Plus, check your local library, school guidance counselors, and school parenting areas! Also, Amazon offers some of the material and you can always buy it from the Love & Logic website. And I have picked up some of the books and materials in the past at some yard sales and thrift stores.

Essentially, I haven't seen anything that this program can't help you with as a parent, I only wish that I had paid closer attention to it sooner (my mother tried to tell me about it, literally, a few years ago). This program goes over the idea of how chores should be handled an whether an allowance is a good thing or not. It has articles on divorce, how to make the internet safe for your kids, and so much more. Even though this special program is over at my kids' school, my husband and I are planning to use the free resources available to us to continue to learn and revisit the values and ideas in this program to help us with our challenge of raising respectable adults out of our unruly kids. I hope you find it to be just as helpful as we have!Lisa Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00059331688469523447noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5090607327829710764.post-92027110145299991632012-03-28T09:53:00.002-04:002012-03-28T09:53:54.481-04:00Printing Coupons, Ink Guzzlers, Facebook, and other general tips!Quick post, then back to homework! A friend of mine is new to coupons and I'm trying to help her out, but my time is so limited.

First of all, she asked where to get printable coupons from. There are TONS of places, but one of the best places to start is simply coupons.com. There are more that can be found here from one of my favorite bloggers. Facebook and brands pages are also great places to get coupons. More & more "brands" are offering exclusive coupons only on Facebook. Since we are discussing printables, here are some tips for printing at home:

Use cheap paper. It doesn't matter if you use the whitest brightest paper or the heaviest weight, they will still scan and they will still cut. LOL. Also, if you don't mind forking out a little bit, buy in bulk. A lot of office supply stores offer deals and coupons that will lower your cost. I've even heard some people use notebook paper, but I haven't tried that yet. I'm afraid my laserjet will eat it all up, lol.

When you start saving some money, get a non-ink eating laserjet printer that prints only in black. Coupons don't need color to scan and neither do the stores.

Switch your ink settings to draft or the lowest quality available. Don't let your coupons guzzle up all your ink- that stuff is expensive!

Some coupons print on only the top portion of the page. In the past, I've cut that portion off, and used the half sheets to print other coupons I knew where only going to print on that top portion. I also keep a stack of the half sheets for my kids to use for crafts, drawing, etc.

Okay, so now that you've "liked" tons of pages and blogs on facebook your news feed is all clogged up with hundreds of posts every freaking minute. You can hide them, but then you can't see when they offer a new coupon. Well, facebook actually did something right for once! You can create a "friend" list and put pages on it! So, what I've done is hide 90% of all my brands I like, stores, restaurants, and bloggers from my actual news feed and created a friend list for each one. This is much easier to show you than to tell you, so here is some visuals:

Create a new email address that you will use for only your coupons, blog subscriptions, sweepstakes, etc. I've even heard of people creating one for each, but I can't keep up with that many emails! LOL. I've also heard of some people doing the same thing for facebook, but I think it works fine with the above friend list idea. And one other tip, if you are entering contests, giveaways, and other things, check your SPAM frequently. If you happen to win, a lot require the winner to contact them within 24 to 48 hours and if you don't receive the email, you generally won't ever even know you won. I've had EVERY SINGLE thing I've won go to my spam filter, so make sure to scan them frequently.

Well, I hope this helps some of you out and if you have any questions, ask in the comments below or on my Facebook page, The Couponing Mommy!

Lisa Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00059331688469523447noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5090607327829710764.post-24272147506596986572012-03-14T13:36:00.002-04:002012-03-16T17:29:33.770-04:00BzzAgent: Philips SatinPerfect EpilatorAs a BzzAgent, I was recently chosen to share and review the Philips SatinPerfect Epilator. (Disclaimer: I did receive this for free, but all of the comments, thoughts, and ideas are solely my own and are truthful) As any mom will more than likely agree, shaving is one of those things that I never seem to do often enough. I hate every minute of it and it is what makes me dread the warmer months (besides the constant humidity here in SC). I have very fair skin that tends to be very sensitive, so I have to shave EVERY day and I almost always get bumps and itch. I've found a few products to help with it, but needless to say, I wish I was a guy when it comes down to needing to shave my legs. I've been shaving since I was 8 years old because even though I have more of a light brown hair, my leg hairs have always been BLACK and pretty thick. So, combine that with the ivoriest skin tone you can pretty much get and then add in pretty spring church dresses...Yeah, my mom recognized real quick that the fur on my legs was either going to have to go or else she was going to have to ban dresses on me, lol! So, 21 years later, I'm tired of it and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way!

So, after being accepted into the program from BzzAgent, I was anxiously awaiting the epilator to arrive. When it finally did, I was ecstatic! I couldn't wait to try it out- till I opened the box. I hate to admit it, but it scared the crap out of me when I first saw it. It looked like some kind of weird torture device and there were so many pieces and the directions were HORRENDOUS! I really have to say, I think they should improve upon the directions. This is a MSRP of $149.99 so I would think a nice color booklet would be much more appropriate than the giganticly huge black and white poster size paper (see my smilebox to see it!). So, I packed it away to try to figure it out another day. If I had actually bought this in the store, well, I might be inclined to return it because it was just so confusing to me. Maybe it was just me, but I've never owned an epilator before, so this was ALL new. A week or so later, I finally decided to brave the device and its awful directions, so here it is:

So, here is some basic tips:
1. What is Epilation? Well, here is a basic definition- Epilate: To remove a hair from a part of the body by forcible extraction, electrolysis, or loosening at the root by chemical means. So, basically, we are removing hair at the root. I find this helpful, because now you understand exactly what this contraption actually is doing.

2. Put it all together. A lot of the pieces were confusing when all laid out as the came. You are going to want to figure them all out. After you get it all situated like below, it becomes a lot less confusing and easier to look at.

Before

After

3. The Epilating Disc and all the caps are for your LEGS. The Shave, Trim & Style Attachment and Trimming Comb are for your underarms and bikini areas. So, don't expect to be epilating in those sensitive areas!

4. Epilating is somewhat painful- especially in the beginning. As you get used to it, it will become more comfortable. I recommend using those caps (as shown in the above picture) over the Epilating Discs attachment so that you can get used to it. Also, keep in mind your hair should be between 3-4 millimeters! If it is longer than that, then you need to either shave it down and epilate another day, or trim it down with the Shave, Trim & Style attachment and Trimming Comb cap.

5. Your skin should be DRY!!!! It helps to do this right after showering or bathing because any type of hair removal is easier after being in warm water, but you can do it anytime of day.

6. Expect some irritation. Mine, surprisingly, only lasted about 20 minutes. I got some small red bumps and then they were gone, leaving smooth silky skin! :)

7. The directions, though hard to read, were helpful.

Okay, so back to my actual review- Overall, once I got past the "WTH is that?! Some kind of torture device!" and then the insane poster of directions in small black font, it really was a good little machine! I've used it a few times now on my legs and with the increasing warm weather here in SC (84 degrees today! We already didn't have a winter, are we loosing Spring too?!), I'm pretty excited about not having to shave everyday. It seems to last about 3-4 days so that is MUCH better than needing to shave everyday. The pain decreases with time and so does the sensitivity. I rarely even get the bumps anymore and even if I do, they are gone in about 10 minutes after using it. I love using the Shave attachment for my bikini area and underarms, very quick and gets very close! And we can't forget those awesome tweezers...My now sculpted eyebrows are thanking it! ;)

Whooooseeee Smarterer than me?

Sorry, couldn't resist! Okay, so as a BzzAgent, I've been included in a special campaign to help launch a new site called Smarterer. At first, I was like "yeah...okay. It's just a new site that tests you and gives you a score." But....as time as progressed, I've really found myself having fun with it! It does all kinds of sites, like BzzAgent, Facebook, Powerpoint, Excel...AND SO MUCH MORE! So far I've only had fun with the BzzAgent one, simply because my time is limited, but I'm currently taking a class this semester with Microsoft Office 2010, so I'm really interested in taking the ones on some of those programs and seeing if I actually have learned anything!~ LOL! So, what are you waiting for? Are YOU smarterer than ME?
Lisa Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00059331688469523447noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5090607327829710764.post-26294838055952592292012-03-12T11:08:00.000-04:002012-03-12T11:08:21.283-04:00Cravebox?

So, I have come across this really cool new thing called Cravebox...Has anyone tried it yet? I've been trying to get *in* on it for about a month so far to no avail...but they are doing a giveaway on a couple blogs to win last month's box, so I'm crossing my fingers to win one of those! Here they are:
And it's that time again- Old Navy Sample & Share's on Crowdtap! If you haven't yet heard me *talk* about Crowdtap, keep reading and I will let you know all about it (or click the link there and get started!) I was chosen to participate in the new Get Dolled Up in Old Navy Dresses! sample and share as part of Old Navy's Style Council. This is an awesome program that Old Navy does through a site called Crowdtap. Crowdtap is Secure VIP access to your favorite brands. Inform their decisions, share your ideas and help them spread the word.. So, what exactly does all that mean?! It means people like you and me get to try out new products, give insight, and participate in discussions for companies that are part of Crowdtap. But, back to the matter at hand, Old Navy's new Spring DRESSES!

Maybe it's just me, but there has ALWAYS been something about wearing a dress that makes me feel so feminine and sexy. I don't care if it's just a cotton maxi or a gorgeous gown, I just feel so good when I wear one. So, I was extremely excited to be included in this Sample & Share program and try out the new styles! Last year I ended up with a large selection of my summer wardrobe being skirts and dresses from Old Navy, so I was hoping to update my wardrobe with some more, and I was not disappointed! Of course, I took my bestie with me and since we both are going back to college right now (her for teaching degree, me for nursing degree) and we live an hour away from each other, this is always an AWESOME excuse to get some much needed friend time in. :)

All of the dresses are really gorgeous this year, and there was quite a few this year that are quite dressy. Maybe I hit the season wrong last year, but it seemed like most of them were very casual last year, so I was pleasantly surprised to find dresses that could be considered Easter dresses and career friendly! My girl was looking for a dress that could be worn to a wedding as she has quite a few to attend over the next few months and I was looking for something that would be comfortable and more casual, so we were excited to see both styles!

After trying on MANY styles and cuts, we both found a perfect one for each of us. I ended up with a long green maxi dress and she got a tan flowery print dress with a cute spring cardi!

So, even though it was my spring break last week, I've been more busy than if I just had school! Trying to get everything finalized for clinicals in May is actually proving to be a lot more complicated then originally anticipated. *sigh* Anyway, I still have the free Zyrtec from last year, so CVS was not so inviting to me this week...We are running low on things like shampoo and conditioner, body wash, etc - the essentials. So, I passed on even making a list for CVS this week and just quickly ran into Walgreens for the Right Guard body wash deal:

A little while back, there was a printable (coupons.com?) for 3.00 off of 2 Right Guard Total Defense 5 Body Wash, Deodorant, or Anti-Antiperspirant. And like all the wonderful online coupons, it was only available for a short time. Somehow, I managed to print 4 of these- I must've used the computer downstairs as well! Anyway, being as I've been barely getting by for hubby's body wash (he's had to pull out the sample sizes a few times here over the last few months), I was pretty excited. Also, I had 2 $3 RR from last week's money maker (see Biore post), so this deal was absolutely FREE for me and a money maker! Regardless, if you have the correct coupons, and buy 4 bottles, using 2 of the $3/2 coupons, it comes to 2.98 for 4 bottles TOOP and then a 4RR will print at the end!

So, on the way out to my son's soccer game, we pass two Walgreens, so I did it twice (didn't want to clear the shelf at either since I was buying 4 each time)!Lisa Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00059331688469523447noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5090607327829710764.post-86029402679013036792012-03-12T07:36:00.003-04:002012-03-12T07:37:30.673-04:00Biore Money Maker!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;">*Please Note* The above deal was done with last week's ad!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">Since Biore looked to still actually be on sale (unadvertised?) at my store this week when I made a quick trip in, I decided to go ahead and talk about it even though the Colgate deal is no longer available. I got so busy last week with my "spring break" that I didn't get a third of what I wanted to get done, done!
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Anyway, at Walgreens, Biore is Buy One Get One 50% off. I have been saving my points up on the Biore Rewards program, so I had enough to print off the $5 coupon (and it printed twice like most bricks coupons!). So here's how it works:
<h6 class="uiStreamMessage" data-ft="{"type":1}" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; font-weight: normal;"><span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}"> Biore Pore Strips & Cleansers are BOGO50% off.
Buy 1 Biore Strips 6 ct for 7.99
Buy 1 Biore Cleanser for 7.99
4.00 automatically deducted for the sale at the end of transaction
Use the Buy one pore strip get any cleanser for free coupon in SS (3/4).
Use the $5 off coupon printed from the rewards program.
Overages WILL apply, so I bought the Colgate Total and used the 75/1 coupon from SS 2/26.
TOOP $1.24 & Received a $3RR for the Colgate!
I did this twice! ;)

Again, I'm not 100% sure it is still on sale this week, as it was marked in my store but I was in a hurry and did not check the dates on the tag. If you don't have the points to get the high dollar coupon, there is a printable out for $1.50 off Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser, so if you combined the sale with the SS 3/4 coupon, you would only pay 2.49 for BOTH the cleanser and the pore strips, still a HUGE deal!
Lisa Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00059331688469523447noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5090607327829710764.post-71184770544098867032012-02-20T14:19:00.000-05:002012-02-20T14:19:49.513-05:00Shopping Day!

So, I've had sick kids (sinus junk) for a few days now, and needless to say, they are starting to drive me bonkers with their bickering and bad moods. So, yesterday, I took off from my mom duties to do some much needed shopping. I went to CVS, BiLo, and Walgreens in the morning and then in the later afternoon/early evening, I headed back out to Publix and Target. Here's the totals:
